General Charles Hamilton, from Houston, TX, is the Founder and President of C3R Hamilton Consulting, LLC, and a retired 4-Star General of the United States Army. He brings with him more than four decades of experience as a Logistics Officer, applying this background to help organizations strengthen supply chains, address cybersecurity threats, and prepare for the challenges of an uncertain global environment. Since he retired from active duty, he has continued to expand his executive leadership expertise through programs at Harvard Business School and the Center for Creative Leadership.
Charles R. Hamilton built his consulting practice on lessons drawn from his long career in military service. His knowledge in logistics, procurement, defense operations, and cybersecurity allows him to provide organizations with practical strategies that balance risk management with growth opportunities. He also applies advanced approaches, including artificial intelligence and automation, to streamline business processes and guide companies in expanding to new markets. His ability to transfer military planning methods to the private sector has made him a trusted advisor for organizations navigating complex and high-risk situations.
He is also recognized for contributing his perspective on both national and global security issues. General Hamilton completed his Army career as the 21st Commanding General of the U.S. Army. In this position, he led the Army Materiel Command, one of the largest organizations in the Department of Defense, overseeing more than 190,000 soldiers, civilians, and contractors. He was responsible for a budget exceeding 50 billion dollars, directing the delivery of critical weapons systems, vehicles, and resources across all 50 states and more than 150 countries. His leadership improved modernization and readiness across the force. He also completed three combat tours in Afghanistan during OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, supporting missions directed against al-Qaeda and the Taliban regime.
His service also included significant roles in the Pentagon, where he oversaw global supply chains providing food, medicine, clothing, ammunition, and equipment to soldiers worldwide. He introduced processes that improved forecasting and delivery, ensuring that military operations at home and abroad received vital support on time and with accuracy.
After retiring, he established C³R Hamilton Consulting to apply his expertise to corporate business strategy. His firm helps organizations navigate the complexities of government contracting, safeguard intellectual property, and strengthen collaboration with the defense community. He developed what he calls the “sustainment enterprise” model, combining the discipline of military operations with business innovation to help organizations achieve success while supporting national defense priorities.
General Hamilton has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Distinguished Service Medal and the Bronze Star. In 2023, he was awarded his fourth star during a ceremony at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, attended by dignitaries. He also received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Virginia State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He later completed a Master’s in Public Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master’s in Military Studies from Marine Corps University.
